Artist Interview: TAHM

Image
Meet TAHM, the emerging band bringing fresh energy to the music scene with their edgy alt-pop sound and captivating live performances. Discover their story, inspirations, and what drives their music. With new singles on the horizon, TAHM is set to make a lasting impact. Q. Tell us about TAHM how did you come together? A. We’d previously existed as a band (Streem) in the late 90s. A chance meeting with Tom Taylor (from indie band Kiwi) in 2022 ended up with us writing a song together. It was only meant to be one song, but we liked the end result so much we carried on.Then Tom went back to Kiwi and we had a re think and here we are. Q. What's the story behind your name? TAHM - Pronounced like barn A . When we first met Tom, he was VERY young. We were a little older. TAHM stands for Tom And His Mum as we used to joke about the age difference. Q. You describe your sound as “revenge pop”. What does that mean to you, and how did you arrive at that style? A. Katie wrote the first song (...

Artist Interview: Teagan Nolan

Meet Tegan Nolan: At just 15 she's already making waves in the industry and shaping up to be the next biggest popstar!  We sat down to discuss everything music and teen life! Tori : "Desperate For Love" is such a catchy summer pop anthem! Can you tell us what inspired the story behind the song and how you approached writing it? Teagan : Thank you so much! I wish I could tell you a specific story that inspired the song but to be honest it's such a universal experience I can't pick out one in particular! The song is basically about that boy thing where they like you and ask you out, but when you say no, they totally turn on you and say you were ‘Ugly anyway’! It's absolutely ridiculous but you'd be surprised how many times my friends and I have experienced that! The day I wrote it, I was talking to a friend and she was telling me about how a boy approached her at the gym and asked for her snapchat. She told him very politely that she had a boyfriend. He repl...

EP Review: Raw Honey by Honey Bxby

Image
As a self-proclaimed Honey Bxby fan, I was thrilled to dive into her latest EP, Raw Honey. But for those who might not know, Honey Bxby is the rising R&B star known for her empowering, sex-positive, and genre-bending sound. Her music often exudes confidence and playfulness, but Raw Honey takes a different route, opening with an emotional intro that sets the tone for raw and real themes. Standout tracks like "Broken Mirrors" resonated deeply with me, particularly the poignant lyric "Losing sight of self now you're going blind." The features on this EP were equally impressive, with Coi Leray and Lola Brooke delivering unforgettable verses. "Tricks for You" is a fun summer anthem, while Lola's verse on the "Left Eye" remix takes the song to new heights. Overall, Raw Honey is a 10/10 EP that lives up to the hype. I'll be streaming it on repeat! Disclaimer: I do not own the rights to the EP "Raw Honey" or any associated image...

Lifestyle: Recession Pop

The Resurgence of Recession Pop: A Soundtrack for Uncertain Times The world today feels fragile, with higher inflation, shaky work climates, and an environmental crisis. Amidst this uncertainty, a new phenomenon has emerged: Recession Pop. This genre, characterized by its blend of upbeat melodies and lyrics that cope with tough realities, has returned with a vengeance. What is Recession Pop? Recession Pop originated during the 2008 financial crisis, with artists like Lady Gaga and La Roux symbolizing the collision of pop ecstasy and existential angst. Today, a new generation of artists, such as Olivia Rodrigo and The 1975, are carrying the torch, pairing introspective lyrics with catchy sounds.  The Return of Recession Pop The return of Recession Pop is no coincidence. With global unrest, inflation, and housing shortages, the world feels anxious. This music reflects the spirit of the times, providing a temporary relief with a more substantial, authentic undertone. It's a soun...
